Larry Slade has been an esteemed and devoted member of the Encino community, demonstrating exemplary leadership and
advocacy across various organizations. As a board member of the Encino Neighborhood Council (ENC) from 2008 to 2010, Larry actively engaged with stakeholders to address local issues and enhance community well-being. The ENC is a vital platform for residents, business owners, and other community members to voice their concerns and participate in Encino’s decision-making processes. Larry’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and fairness extended to his involvement with Encino Sherman Oaks Softball, where he served as a board member from 2011 to 2013. In a landmark case against the Army Corps of Engineers, Larry, alongside community members, fought tirelessly to challenge gender discrimination in access to sports fields. Their efforts resulted in significant strides towards ensuring equitable access to recreational facilities for all youth in the community.

Additionally, Larry’s dedication to community enrichment led him to serve as a board member of Encino Franklin Fields (EFF) from 2017 to now. Following the lawsuit, Larry became more directly involved in EFF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable access to field space for youth sports in the San Fernando Valley. Through his unwavering commitment and advocacy, Larry Slade has left an indelible mark on the Encino community, embodying the spirit of compassion, fairness, and inclusivity.
